Pa Elton was a mentor and a guide as it were, because when the Lord spoke to me about CSSM, which later changed to CESM. He asked me to go and meet him. And when I went to him, I remember this was what he told me, “Who gave you this vision?” I told him, “God”. And he said, “I’ve been waiting for this vision for years”. And he told me, “This vision is a very large vision. It will affect the nations; it will affect the world”. Little did I know. And every month we would always go to him for counselling and he would give directions on particular areas of our lives.

It is not as if everything he said was always 100% right, but of course, most of the time, in 90% of the things he pointed out, he was dead accurate. The truth of the matter is that you cannot talk about the move of God without talking about Rev. S.G. Elton. He played a role in mentoring the men whom God used to pioneer the move of God right through the 60’s into the early 80’s. If you go to Adeboye today, he would tell you that the man whom God used to help him was Elton; it was through Elton that Idahosa was identified and sent abroad and there’s virtually none of the older generation ministers who had not been influenced by this man of God in one way or the other. I must say he was a man who sold out all of himself to Nigeria. His wife died here, he also died here and as you can see, his daughter is going to die here, so the whole family have given themselves to the work of God in this nation. Elton sowed into the lives of many of us.
